Regular Ceremonies
under supervision of Chödje Lama Gawang Rinpoche ![]() On a daily basis Gawang Rinpoche performs the Tara and Mahakala ceremonies. In the morning at about 07:45 hours, the daily Tara puja starts. The Bodhisattva Tara is the protector of life and comes in different appearances symbolizing the various aspects of her activity on earth. The mornings are considered as in the sign of Tara and is seen as a favorable span of time for constructive activities. In the early evening at about 17:00h the regular Mahakala puja takes place. Mahakala is a representation of the original Buddha nature in the role of protector of the Dharma. Like in all Kagyu monasteries, once a month a special long Mahakala puja is performed lasting the whole day (with breaks). The long Mahakala pujas take place on the day before new moon (i.e. no moon). Please see the moon calendar for more details about the timing of events and then click on agenda to see the above program in concise form and easy printing in diary format. Following the regular Mahakala puja, at about 19:00 hours, the Chenrezig puja is performed under supervision of a senior sangha member. Chenrezig is the Lord of Compassion - a Bodhisattva who is also known as Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit. Furthermore, on special request, Chödje Lama Gawang Rinpoche performs the Dewachen (Pure Land) Powa (spiritual transmission) and Bardo sadhanas to guide the deceased towards Buddha Amithaba's heaven. After such a puja in Hantum, the names of the deceased will be transmitted to the other Kagyu monasteries where additional prayer services will take place for the deceased mentioning their names. Above course fees are per adult (children half price) and are collected for donation to teachers and their monasteries or institutes. |
